JAYA GUPTA
Co-Founder
Jaya Gupta is a co-founder of Girls and Literature. As someone who has always been passionate about education, she was inspired to use her resources to help girls around the world create better lives for themselves. Jaya is a student at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and her favorite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.
THRISHA SAKAMURI
Co-Founder
Thrisha Sakamuri is a co-founder of Girls and Literature. She strives to improve the literacy rate for girls around the world and spread GAL's mission amongst students globally. Thrisha is a freshman at the University of Michigan, and her favorite book is Verity.
KIRA TILLER
Director of Operations
Kira Tiller is the Director of Operations at Girls and Literature. She primarily works to expand GAL's impact and outreach. Outside of GAL, Kira dances competitively and works with various youth activist coalitions advocating for equity. Her favorite book is the Great Gatsby.
SOPHIE KING
Fundraising Director
Sophie King works as the Fundraising Director to spread awareness for Girls and Literature. Her favorite book is The Picture of Dorian Gray, and she loves to play volleyball and skateboard. She is a member of her school's Broadcast and Model United Nations team
SOPHIA LI
Shipments Director
Sophia Li is the Shipments Director for Girls and Literature. She uses her skills to help publicize their cause. Outside of GAL, Sophia loves volleyball and art. Her favorite book is Throne of Glass.
SONALI SHAH
Director of Publicity
Sonali Shah is a part of the Directors of Publicity on the GAL team because she wants to make sure girls around the world have access to books. Her favorite book is How to Disappear and she enjoys sewing and traveling. She is a part of her school's Marching Band and Baking club.
KRITIKA KHATI
Event Coordinator
Kritika Khati works as Event Coordinator to orchestrate activities for Girls and Literature. Her favorite books are the TMI series, and outside of GAL she likes to play field hockey and binge watch shows. At school she participates in FPS (Future Problem Solvers) and WISE (Women Interested in Science and Engineering).
MAYA MAKONNEN
Event Coordinator
Maya Makonnen is an Event Coordinator for Girls and Literature. She designs and implements events for GAL. Her favorite book is And Then There Were None. In her free time, Maya tutors kids in English and plays video games.
